Total Visitor Satisfaction

Believing that the time is right for destinations to focus on satisfying current visitors, retaining them as enthusiastic repeat guests and encouraging them to become influencers for the destination, the Caribbean Tourism Organization introduces Guestpitality. In short, we believe that developing a reputation for service that is so excellent and an environment that is so welcoming will fuel an emotional attachment that triggers repeat visitors and inspires new ones. We predict that a Total Visitor Satisfaction Programme for Caribbean destinations will increase considerably the regionʼs competitiveness, enhance visibility and boost sustainable development.

What is Guestpitality?

As the worldʼs most tourism-dependent region, the Caribbean must outshine all others in its commitment to delivering great tourism experiences. The Caribbean Tourism Organization’s new Guestpitality Total Visitor Satisfaction TM (TVS) programme enables stakeholders to quickly and easily measure the level of visitor satisfaction in CTO member countries and provides a colorful, consumer-friendly reference for visitors.

The Guestpitality Total Visitor Satisfaction index is a performance index measuring 7 key tourism-related areas with a rating between 0-100. The 7 key areas are: Accommodation; Restaurants; Sites and Attractions; Shopping; Immigration and Customs; Safety and Security; Transport and Infrastructure. Any destination scoring at least 75 in these areas and an overall score of at least 85, will be “Guestpitality TVS certified” and will be allowed to promote their rating on their individual marketing materials. Each destination will also be featured on all Guestpitality consumer facing marketing efforts and on the website.

How to Participate

To be certified, a destination should be surveyed and score at least 85% in the overall index and a minimum of 75% in each subsector. When a country is certified it will receive a plaque and certificate for display. The destination will be certified for a period of two years. The frequency of conducting the surveys will be twice annually, once in the low and high seasons. The survey will be conducted over a period of at least one week at all departure ports, once during the high and low seasons.
